Today Deadline is reporting that Logan director, James Mangold, will partner up with #Sicario and #HellorHighWater screenwriter, Taylor Sheridan, for the #Sony produced remake of the French action-thriller Disorder.
Sony is reportedly interested in fast-tracking this film to enter production in the next year. Taylor Sheridan also is reported to use the original film as only a basis for his script and has made several alterations to the main character, setting, and plot. In the age of studios looking for franchises, Sheridan wrote the film as a potential franchise starter with future films that could be centered around the main character.
The original French film starred Matthias Schoenaerts (The Drop) as an ex-special forces operative with PTSD who is hired to protect the wife and child of a rich businessman. The movie was received well critically and released last year by IFC Films.
Taylor Sheridan is following up his Oscar Nominated screenplay (Hell or High Water) with his directorial debut, Wind River, due out August 4th of this year. James Mangold is also still attached to develop and direct an adaptation of the Don Winslow novel, The Force (which centers around a corrupt NYPD police force).
No word on a release yet dates as of yet.
