For those Christopher Nolan fans out that anxiously waiting for his next project can rest assured knowing two things. One, the word on the streets is Nolan has finished a “comprehensive draft” for his next project and two, he has a new film premiering this August. What is it you might ask? Something to top “Interstellar”? No sir, it is a short documentary feature about a pair of Stop Motion Animators named Stephen and Timothy Quay.
The documentary will be called, “Quay” and premiere during “The Quay Brothers-On 35mm Film” at the Film Form on August 19th. Some reports are also suggesting that Nolan will curate a selection of Quay films that will be played at the event. The films he will be curetting include, Absentia (2000), The Comb (1991) and Street of Crocodiles(1986). Having a giant name like Nolan on board doing this documentary and presentation will give the largely unknown group of filmmakers a nice shinning spotlight and more awareness.
Here is a link where you can explore some of the group’s work at Fandor (with a subscription of course). This is a nice change of pace for Nolan and I am excited to see what he’ll do with it.
